In response to the crisis, Wajir South Member of Parliament Mohamed Adow took to Facebook to issue an urgent alert, expressing gratitude to the swift response from the Kenya Red Cross. The organisation has deployed an assessment team and mobilised crucial relief supplies to assist those affected by the floods.

The impassable roads have posed a significant challenge, with the only viable access to Diff now limited to helicopters. The MP emphasised that it might take some time before aid can reach the stranded community. Assuring the affected residents, he underscored the concerted efforts being made to deliver humanitarian assistance to the affected areas.
"We are dedicated to reaching the inundated town and implore all pertinent government agencies and humanitarian organizations to swiftly provide assistance to those in need," he asserted.
The situation in Wajir is just one example of the devastating impact of the ongoing heavy rains, which have taken a toll on several Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) counties across the country. In a recent press conference, the political leaders of Mandera urged the President to declare the floods a national disaster. Speaking at the conference, Mandera East MP Hussein Weytan highlighted the plight of those affected, emphasising that essential supplies are stranded along the impassable routes.
